Removal Proceedings
An immigrant may be deported or removed from the United States for numerous reasons, including being in the United States without permission or for the commission of certain crimes. Most immigrants have the right to appear before an immigration judge to contest their removal from the United States. In certain situations, especially for those with lengthy periods of residency in the Untied States and with extensive family ties to the United States, the immigrant can apply for waivers that will allow them to remain in the United States.
